White fillings are mercury-free fillings made from composite resins—a mix of plastic material with glass coloured particles. White fillings can be used to restore teeth in the front and back of your mouth.

Dentessential is committed to using mercury-free white fillings: this is a more attractive and healthy option than silver (amalgam) fillings. The advantage of white fillings over silver fillings is that white fillings are bonded directly to the tooth. This is beneficial because it minimises the risk of recurrent decay.

With silver fillings, a lot of healthy tooth structure had to be removed for the filling to be placed. Whereas with a white filling, the only part of the tooth removed is the part of the tooth which is decayed. This leaves your tooth healthier after treatment as the decay is replaced with a filling which bonds to your tooth, sealing the decay and protecting your tooth.

Fillings generally only take one appointment

The treatment process for a filling is straightforward. Your Dentessential Dentist will carefully remove the decay from your tooth while their Dental Assistant will prepare the white filling material to be placed by the Dentist. The length of time it takes to carry out this treatment depends on how much decay the Dentist is required to remove.
